Study Abroad
Although it is not an official UT program, language study at Tver' State University in Russia has provided many UT students with an effective and affordable Russian immersion experience, away from the more Westernized big cities. If planned carefully with a UT faculty member, the credits earned in Tver' transfer back to UT without difficulties. The Russian Enrichment Fund can help by providing small awards for study in Russia.
Russian majors and minors are encouraged to study abroad, particularly through participation in the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP).
The Russian program is also prepared to recommend other summer study opportunities and year abroad programs for students who are interested in foreign study. Credits from recognized foreign study programs can readily be transferred to The University of Tennessee.
Students are required to consult with a Russian advisor before registering for courses in Russia. A stop at the Programs Abroad Office is highly recommended as well.
